Editorial policy
What this site publishes, what it refuses to publish, and how a page is checked.

Who is responsible
Crunch My Mortgage is published as a brand. The Crunch My Mortgage Editorial Team is responsible for the calculators, the explanations, and the guides. There is no outside editorial board and no lender reviews a page before it goes live. Questions and correction reports go to the address on the contact page.
What the site covers
The site explains mortgage math. Each calculator answers one question: a monthly payment, a price an income can support, a debt-to-income ratio, the cash due at closing, when private mortgage insurance can end, how long discount points or a refinance take to pay for themselves, and the published FHA and VA fee tables.
Guides, when they are published, explain the same subjects in prose and send the reader to the matching calculator. A guide states the rule, shows one worked example from that calculator, and links the official source.
What the site does not cover
- Interest rates, rate locks, or “today’s rates.” Every rate in a calculator is a number you type.
- Loan applications, pre-approvals, or referrals to a lender. The site does not collect leads.
- Advice that a particular loan, lender, or house is right for you. Results are estimates. The disclaimer states the limit.
- Local tax rates, insurance quotes, or credit decisions. Those depend on a property and a person, and the calculators do not look them up.
No lender pays to be featured. Nothing on the site is a paid placement for a loan product.
How a topic is chosen
A topic is added when it is a question a borrower can answer with a formula or with a published government table, and when the site can show the steps. Topics that need a live rate, a credit pull, or a lender’s internal pricing are left out.
Sources
Official documents come first. The pages cite the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Fannie Mae’s Selling Guide and Servicing Guide, the Internal Revenue Service, the Code of Federal Regulations, and the United States Code. Each calculator page lists the documents it relies on.
A forum post, a lender’s marketing page, or a news article is not used as the source of a rule or a fee. When a page and an official document disagree, the official document governs. Government fee tables show the date they were last checked. That date changes only when the table is checked again.
Advertising
The site is supported by display advertising. Ads are labeled. They are kept off the calculator itself: not between the inputs and the results, not beside the buttons that copy, print, or reset a scenario, and not inside an embedded widget. An advertisement is not an endorsement, and the Editorial Team does not sell a loan through one.
See the privacy policy for how advertising cookies are described.
Drafting and review
A page may be drafted with software, including SI tools, to organize an explanation. SI tools are not a source. Before a page is published, the Editorial Team checks three things: the formula matches the one the calculator runs, the worked example uses that calculator’s own numbers, and every cited rule points at an official document. A page is not published on the strength of a draft alone.
The methodology page lists the formulas, the rounding rules, and the test cases the calculators are checked against.
Corrections and dates
Errors are fixed on the page and noted on the corrections page. A “last reviewed” or “last updated” date changes when the explanation, the formula, or the sources change. It is not moved forward to make an unchanged page look new.
